Munich - Page 1

In Munich we stayed at a Hotel called the Conrad, which was near the Hauptbahnhof (central train station). One of the first places we went to was Marienplaz, the center and the heart of Munich. The square is dominated by the Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall) . The square itself features a golden statue of the Virgin Mary (first picture here) from 1638.

There are pedestrian zones, markets, and coffeehouses galore in this area. Walking about town we found a store with a golden frog Buddha, a hair salon with strange bronze statues of creatures with flowing (?) hair, ate at typical German beer hall, and even found people in lederhosen and traditional dress gathering outside another beer hall for good times.
